Tournament Details
Welcome to the Julyfest Soccer Tournament. This classic has been a part of many teams' traditions through the years and we invite you to make it a part of yours. This year we are holding out 39th annual tournament. Held over two days, it is an intense soccer experience, with over 150 games played on 8 different fields. The soccer is non-stop and the atmosphere exciting, combining to make a very memorable weekend. The tournament coincides with Kimberley's Julyfest celebrations, complete with Saturday night's dance and beer gardens. Kimberley is a short 4 hour drive from Spokane and Calgary and is known for its beautiful setting and consistently incredible weather. The tournament has something for all, with a men's open, women's open, women's recreational, and men's masters' side. The referees come from far and wide and are as committed to the tournament's high standards as we are. We award over $7000 in cash prize money, spaced over all levels of play, with the top men's team and top woman's team receiving $1000 each.

Tournament Format
There are four divisions of the JulyFest Soccer Tournament
Men's Open
Unless you qualify for the masters (players are 35+ years old), all men’s teams will play here. On Saturday, teams play pool games to establish the playoff bracket they will compete in on Sunday. How well you position in your pool will determine how tough the competition will be in the playoff and how much money you will be competing for. The top teams play for the biggest cash prizes. But don’t despair, even the bottom teams from each pool play for cash on Sunday. The way we calculate positioning can be found in ‘rules and information’.
Women's Open
Women’s teams who want to compete at the highest level will register for the women’s open.
Women's Recreational
If your women’s team wants to enjoy the weekend without the bother of playing the teams that want to ‘win it all’ be sure to register here. You still compete for cash, though not as much, but the up-side is you likely won’t play as many games.
Master's
If you’re going to play in masters division every player has to be over 35. The masters competition is tough, but you’ve earned the chance to take it easy and play less games than you used to. There are some cash prize incentives if you do well enough, but most teams are playing for pride.
Rules and Information
Teams must warm up off the playing pitch, and be ready to go immediately after the conclusion of the previous game. Half time will be brief. This makes for a tight schedule and by keeping to it as best as possible results in fairness to all teams. If the team cannot field enough players by 5 minutes past the posted game time, it will be considered a default win for the opposing team.
Tournament rules:
- All games are 60 minutes.
- A tie stands in Saturday’s group play, in Sunday’s knockout play; a tie will be decided by penalty kicks.
- Standard FIFA rules apply.
- There are unlimited substitutions at the discretion of the referee.
- A red card will result in a one game suspension (including 2 yellows in a single game). If the referee decides that the incident is of a serious nature, the tournament discipline committee will rule accordingly.
- A player may only play for one team, with the exception of the master’s side. A player may play for one team in the men's open and another in the men’s masters if he wishes to do so. Contravention of this rule will result in the disqualification of the team.
- Points are awarded as follows: Win = 3 points, Tie = 1 point, No Goals Against = 1 point, Win by Default = 3 points
- Goals for and against differential will also be used to the event of a tie in points, with a mercy rule of maximum 5 goal differential in a single game. Record against will also be used if applicable. If there is still a tie in points, a coin toss by the head official will determine who has advantage.
